You will continue to receive your bill from your current utility as you normally would, only now, our name will appear on your bill as your supplier after service has started! If you currently receive and pay your electric utility bill every month on your own, then you have the power to switch to Discount Power - no approval needed! However, if you live in an apartment building or condo where all units’ electricity or natural gas usage is rolled into one bill and paid by the landlord or condo association, then you would need to convince the person who manages that utility bill to switch to Discount Power for their energy supply. Nope! You can make the switch online, easy and hassle-free. No new equipment needed. If you get your electricity or natural gas from your local utility, you already have everything you need in place. Just a matter of minutes! All you’ll need is the account information from your latest utility bill to get started. After signing up with Discount Power, your utility will usually switch your supplier to us by your next meter read date! This is typically 15-40 days after you enroll with us depending on where you live. Once the switch occurs, you will see Discount Power’s name on your first utility bill for the period after the switch. If for any reason you are not happy with your choice of supplier of natural gas and electricity, you can switch to another supplier, or back to your utility upon written or verbal notification. However, be aware that some of our products have early termination fees. Please check the service agreement terms & conditions for details. A variable rate is a rate that may fluctuate based upon market conditions. A fixed rate is a rate that will not change during the term of the contract. After the fixed rate term is over, the rate may fluctuate based upon market conditions or roll to a new fixed rate. Generally speaking, yes, they do. Like any other commodity, energy prices fluctuate. If the price of energy (both renewable or traditional) goes up on the market, it will go up for our customers on variable plans. If it goes down, our customers will pay a lower price. If you don’t want a variable price, we offer fixed price plans as well, which allow you to lock in a fixed rate for the length of your contract term. If you are on a variable rate plan, you will continue to receive your electric or natural gas service until it is cancelled by you, or Discount Power. If you are on a fixed rate plan with us, you will receive notice from us prior to the expiration of your initial agreement term regarding the continuation, or renewal, of your energy service. Green Energy, also known as Renewable Energy, Green Power, or similar, is energy generated by non-manmade sources: sun, wind, earth, and water. These resources replenish themselves naturally! Renewable energy fuels may also include: solar, landfill biomass, geothermal or wind power, too. Indeed we do! In many of the states we service, we offer fixed-rate and variable green-power electricity plans. The energy your home uses will be paired to 100% renewable, wind-powered energy through the purchase of Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs). Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs), also known as Green tags, Renewable Energy Credits, Renewable Electricity Certificates, or Tradable Renewable Certificates (TRCs), are tradable, non-tangible energy commodities that represent proof that 1 megawatt-hour (MWh) of electricity was generated from an eligible renewable energy resource (renewable electricity) and was fed into the shared system of power lines which transport energy. Always be sure to call your local utility if you experience a power outage! Make sure to have their contact information handy at all times - they will be the ones to make any repairs or address any issues with poles, power lines or pipelines that carry your electricity or natural gas supply. Contact your local utility, which reads the meter, to discuss whether you can select your meter read dates. Once you sign up with Discount Power, we submit a request to enroll in our service to your local utility on your behalf. Within one to two billing periods, you will see a notation for Discount Power in the generation supply area of your utility bill. There are two elements to your electric bill: One is the cost of the electricity itself, and the other is the cost of delivering the electricity to your home or office. The generation portion of your bill is the cost you pay to buy the electricity - that’s the part where we come in! No, you will receive only one bill. The bill will come from your local utility. If you have a question about the electricity generation supply portion of the bill or your current plan with Discount Power, we’re here to help! Give us a shout at: 877-259-7693. If you have questions about your payments or past due balances, please contact your utility directly using the information located on your invoice. Payments for your utility bill should be made directly to your local utility by following the instructions on your invoice. If you have signed up for online billing with your utility, then you should be able to continue to pay your utility bill online. Your local utility will continue to issue your invoices and determine due dates. Please check with your local utility to discuss payment due dates, or if they offer flexibility to adjust these set dates. Your local utility will continue to issue electrical bills and oversee their collections; your local utility also establishes their late payments policies. Please contact your utility directly to find out more. Discount Power does not charge any fees for customers on a variable rate if you switch your service to another supplier or to the utility. If you are on a fixed rate plan, you may be charged a fee if you switch your service before the end of the fixed rate term. Your welcome letter and terms and conditions from Discount Power will clearly state the product that you’ve selected, as well as the agreement terms. Please contact your local utility to establish your service cut-off date. Once you've moved, your local utility will determine your last date of service with Discount Power, and look to send your final bill. Settled into your new residence? Reach out to us to see we provide service there - we’d love to help you enroll at your new address!
